The King family

Sandra and her husband Andrew (both 32) live with their 9 year old son Jack and Sandra’s 16 year old son Daniel. Daniel lived with his dad and four half siblings for 9 months but has returned to live with Sandra, Andrew and Jack. The family own their house and have lived there for four years. Sandra works part-time as a cleaner and a supervisor and Andrew works full time. They receive child tax credits.

The Simpson family

Hannah (27) lives with her son Callum (10) in private rented accommodation. She has lived there for nearly five years but it is a really busy area and she wants to move. Hannah has done voluntary work for five years. She works three days a week from 9 to 3 and receives jobseekers allowance.
Hannah had some involvement with adult mental health (AMH) services in the past and is on medication for depression.

The Taylor family

Scarlett reported that she had a troubled childhood. She was adopted, sexually abused and raped at age 15. She was then in a violent relationship and became pregnant but her baby died. After marrying Tony at 19 she had 12 miscarriages and had a stillborn son seven years ago.
